What does a day look like?
Your host's message arrives around 8 a.m., or at the time you choose in the app. Reply to it by text, or post in the app, and today counts. Sometimes that takes a minute, and other times (like if the task is to go on a walk outside for 20 minutes) it takes 20 minutes. Want more support? Turn on coaching texts for topics related to your event and select the days they come. They're optional, and replying to them doesn't count toward your 24 of 28.
When does it start and end?
Each event has a set start date and runs for 28 days. Everyone begins together and finishes together, which is the point … this is not another internet self-guided program or app that you work through alone at your own pace. They’re events, and every event has a specific start and end date listed on its entry page. The week before the start date is a free practice week. It doesn't count toward your 28, so it's a no-pressure way to get a feel for the challenge.
Is there a free trial?
Yes! The week before the 28-day challenge starts is a free practice week. You'll get your host's morning text and access to group discussions in the app, a no-pressure way to get a feel for what the full challenge will be like.
How do I keep going after the practice week?
Sign up for the full 28 days. It's a one-time payment, not a subscription. You can sign up any time through Day 4, and every day you complete from Day 1 counts once you do.
What happens if I don't sign up?
If you haven't signed up by the end of Day 4, your free access ends. That's okay. You'll stay on your host's list, and we'll let you know when the next round opens.
Can I join after it has started?
Yes, through Day 4. Every day you complete from Day 1 counts once you sign up. If you missed any days before signing up, they use up flex days, so you'll have fewer left for the rest of the month. That only matters for prize eligibility (you still have to show up on 24 days).
What is the refund policy?
You can get a refund with no questions asked through day 4 of the event. After that, entries are final. If something out of the ordinary has happened, write to support@waybetter.app. Our Referees are reasonable people and will do their best to help while also keeping it fair for the other participants.
What happens when the 28 days are over?
Your host sends a last message on Day 29. If you showed up on 24 of the 28 days, you may be eligible for your host's prizes or other incentives. Each game is different so be sure to check the details for specific prizes and redemptions!
A lot of people will be on a roll and prefer not to stop so they jump right into the next event. Hosts may run another round, frequently with many of the same faces in it. You may also want to join an event with another host. Plus, there is the rest of WayBetter - games for all sorts of healthy habits from drinking more water, to pushups, walking, and decluttering your house. While our 28 Days events don’t require a WayBetter membership, some of those games will require one.
Mostly, we hope you come out of the month with two or three habits that have started to feel automatic.
